SCOUTING REPORT
UNIVERSITY OF REDLANDS
Last updated: July 22, 2026
Overview
Redlands competes as a strong SCIAC contender with its clearest recent success coming in track and field, where both programs have remained firmly in the conference’s upper tier. Its women’s team has been built around field-event power and complementary sprint scoring, while its men’s team has surged through sprint/hurdle strength with balanced support from jumps, throws, and middle distance. As a high-academic Division III program, Redlands is recruiting student-athletes who can meet a demanding campus environment while adding immediate conference-level points and, in the strongest event areas, helping sustain national relevance.
Men's Program Pro
Redlands’ men are operating from a solid upward position: cross country has been competitive but not dominant in the SCIAC, and the distance group remains useful rather than program-defining, especially with a notable set of upcoming departures in that area. On the track, the Bulldogs have established themselves as one of the conference’s better sprint/hurdle teams and have also scored well in jumps and throws, so the current men’s recruiting push is centering on high-end 100m, 200m, 400m, 110m hurdles, and 400m hurdle talent while also adding selective help in the 1500 meters, 3000 meters, 800 meters, and impact jump events to preserve overall balance.
Women's Program Pro
Redlands’ women have been one of the SCIAC’s most reliable all-around track programs, with especially strong recent identity in jumps and a history of meaningful scoring in sprints/hurdles, while cross country has stayed consistently competitive near the top of the conference. The main weakness has been distance scoring on the track, which has lagged behind the team’s overall standing, and with an outgoing distance contributor the women’s side is now actively strengthening its endurance pipeline through cross country and the 800 meters, 1500 meters, and 5000 meters while continuing to protect its established advantage in high jump and maintain sprint depth.
Current Recruiting Outlook Pro
Redlands is currently looking for recruits who can either score quickly in its established power areas or raise weaker event groups that are limiting conference title pressure. For men, that means the heaviest emphasis is falling on sprints/hurdles and shot put, with secondary attention on 1500 meters, 3000 meters, high jump, and pole vault because of pending turnover and the need for broader championship coverage; for women, the priority is shifting toward distance and cross country reinforcements, especially athletes who project to the 800 meters, 1500 meters, and 5000 meters, while also continuing to bring in top academic-fit sprinters and high jumpers who can keep Redlands near the front of the SCIAC.
