SCOUTING REPORT
COLORADO COLLEGE
Last updated: July 22, 2026
Overview
Colorado College is operating as a high-academic Division III program that wins the SCAC through distance strength and then works to raise its national ceiling with selective additions around that core. Its men’s and women’s cross country teams are conference standard-bearers, and its track programs follow the same pattern: distance drives championship scoring, while selected sprint, jump, and throw recruits determine whether the Tigers simply control the league or push higher nationally.
Men's Program Pro
Colorado College’s men are built around distance, with cross country and track both functioning as perennial SCAC leaders in that event group, so the program is continuing to pursue strong 800 meters, 1500 meters, 3000 meters, and 5000 meters talent that can score quickly in both seasons. On the track side, the men have also shown enough sprint and hurdle value to keep that area relevant, especially in the 200 meters and 400 meters, but the recruiting profile there is more targeted than broad. With an upcoming loss in men’s distance and a lighter but still useful outgoing thrower, the biggest men’s need is preserving elite depth in the distance pipeline while opportunistically adding sprint contributors who can support conference team scoring.
Women's Program Pro
Colorado College’s women are one of the SCAC’s most complete contenders, with cross country dominance and a track program that consistently contends near the top because distance remains elite and jumps have been a reliable support area. The women’s recruiting profile is especially assertive in distance, so the program is continuing to chase high-level 800 meters, 1500 meters, 3000 meters, and 5000 meters athletes who fit both the academic environment and a championship cross country culture. Because the women also have useful conference value in sprints and jumps but are facing a significant upcoming wave of distance departures, the immediate emphasis is on restocking that core while still adding a few sprint and jump pieces that protect overall team balance.
Current Recruiting Outlook Pro
Colorado College is currently looking for academically strong Division III recruits who can score in SCAC distance events right away and eventually help lift its national profile in cross country and track. On the men’s side, it is prioritizing distance first, then selectively adding 200 meters and 400 meters talent; on the women’s side, it is urgently replenishing distance depth and continuing to add complementary sprint and jump athletes. Across both programs, the clearest message is that Colorado College is building through endurance talent and using event-specific support recruits to maintain conference control.
