SCOUTING REPORT

UNIVERSITY OF OREGON
Runcruit
Last updated: July 22, 2026

Overview

Oregon remains one of Division I’s premier all-around programs, with both cross country teams and both track and field teams operating at a national-contender level while consistently competing for Big Ten titles. Its recruiting profile is exceptionally aggressive in distance on both sides and similarly high-end in most women’s event groups, while the men’s side is more selectively elite in distance, sprints/hurdles, and specific throws than in jumps, signaling a program that is protecting championship-level strengths while continuing to refine a few roster balance areas.

Oregon’s men are built around elite distance strength across cross country and track, and that group is staying central as the Ducks are replacing upcoming losses from high-value distance athletes while defending a conference-leading standard in those events. On the track side, men’s throws have become a major scoring pillar and sprints/hurdles have improved into a more meaningful support unit, so Oregon is actively adding high-ceiling hurdlers, short sprinters, 800-meter runners, and impact throwers; by contrast, jumps look more like a targeted depth area, though the pending departure of a major jumper raises the urgency for at least one conference-caliber addition there.

Oregon’s women are one of the nation’s most complete programs, with cross country and distance continuing to anchor championship contention and with strong support from sprints/hurdles and jumps in the Big Ten team race. The upcoming losses are most important in cross country/distance and sprints/hurdles, so Oregon is reloading with nationally competitive 1500-meter, 5000-meter, 800-meter, hurdle, and sprint recruits while also continuing to seek polished jumpers; throws contribute useful points but remain the clearest area where added impact talent would most improve lineup balance at the conference and national levels.

Oregon is currently looking for recruits who can score quickly in championship settings rather than long-term developmental projects, with the heaviest emphasis on elite distance talent for both men and women and strong secondary attention on women’s sprints/hurdles, women’s jumps, men’s hurdlers, and men’s throws. The program is also filling specific succession needs created by outgoing high-level performers, so the Ducks are prioritizing recruits with immediate Big Ten scoring potential and NCAA-qualifying upside, especially in the 800 meters, 1500 meters, 5000 meters, hurdles, selected sprint events, and top-end field events that can reinforce title-level depth.
