SCOUTING REPORT

RUTGERS UNIVERSITY - CAMDEN
Runcruit
Last updated: July 22, 2026

Overview

Rutgers-Camden is operating as a developmental NCAA Division III program that is working to raise its floor across both cross country and track and field, with the clearest current traction on the men’s side and the most defined event identity on the women’s side in the throws. As a high-academic Division III option in the NJAC, Rutgers-Camden is recruiting student-athletes who can contribute quickly in conference scoring areas while also fitting an institution where academic stability matters, and its present approach is centered on adding dependable depth in distance, targeted impact in selected sprint events, and women’s field-event strength that can keep the program competitive.

Rutgers-Camden’s men have been moving into a more competitive middle tier of the NJAC in track and field, with distance showing the most reliable base and jumps also giving the program useful conference support, while cross country has remained more developmental but stable. The Scarlet Raptors are currently building around men who can strengthen cross country and the 800 meters through 5000 meters range, while also adding sprint recruits with real 400-meter and 400 hurdles upside to lift a group that has not yet matched the distance unit’s relative consistency.

Rutgers-Camden’s women are still in a broader rebuilding phase overall, but the program has shown its most repeatable conference value in the throws, where it has been more competitive than the team’s total placing suggests. Women’s cross country and distance need more depth to move upward, and the sprint group also needs reinforcement, especially with an upcoming sprint/hurdles departure, so the program is now emphasizing versatile women who can score in throws, help immediately in the 800 meters and longer distance events, or add much-needed sprint depth.

Rutgers-Camden is currently looking for men’s distance recruits who can impact both cross country and track, men’s quarter-milers and long hurdlers who can raise sprint scoring, women’s throwers who can preserve the program’s strongest event area, and women’s middle-distance runners who can improve both cross country and track range. It is also adding selective women’s sprint recruits to offset pending roster loss and is prioritizing multi-event roster builders who can score in the NJAC rather than event specialists with narrow profiles.
