SCOUTING REPORT

Last updated: July 22, 2026

Overview

Missouri S&T is operating as one of the GLVC’s stronger overall men’s programs while its women’s program sits in the conference’s competitive middle tier, with the clearest program identity built around men’s throws and a broader women’s push led by throws and complementary event support. Across the department, Missouri S&T is recruiting with the intent of protecting established conference scoring areas, lifting weaker event groups into reliable point-producing units, and adding enough quality depth to keep its men nationally relevant in Division II while raising the women’s ceiling.

Missouri S&T’s men have been a consistent GLVC contender in track and field, anchored by elite conference-level throws and supported by solid jumps, while cross country and distance have also been meaningful contributors even as upcoming turnover hits that group hard. With a strong pending loss of distance and sprint/hurdle talent, the Miners are now reloading most aggressively in the 800 meters, 1500 meters, 3000 meters/5000 meters pipeline, and hurdle events, while continuing to pursue high-end throwers and jumpers to preserve the event groups that keep the program near the top of the conference and competitive nationally.

Missouri S&T’s women have been a steady GLVC scorer with its best recent conference value coming from throws and useful support from jumps, while distance and sprints/hurdles have remained more middle-of-the-pack and need more impact athletes to move the team upward. An upcoming loss in both jumps and especially sprints/hurdles sharpens the need for immediate event-group reinforcement, but the program is still building first around throwers, then around versatile jumpers and middle-distance recruits who can improve both track scoring and women’s cross country depth.

Missouri S&T is currently looking for men who can score quickly in throws, hurdles, and the 800/1500/5000 progression, with extra urgency in men’s distance because of significant outgoing talent in both cross country and track. On the women’s side, Missouri S&T is prioritizing throwers first, then jumpers, then middle-distance and hurdle recruits who can raise conference scoring depth, while pure short sprint recruiting appears more selective and less central than adding athletes who can strengthen multiple lineup needs.
