SCOUTING REPORT
FORDHAM UNIVERSITY
Last updated: July 22, 2026
Overview
Fordham competes as a solid Atlantic 10 program whose clearest identity is built around distance, especially on the men’s side, while its sprint, hurdle, jump and throw groups have generally operated more as support areas than conference-driving units. Across both cross country and track, Fordham is balancing the need to preserve its strongest tradition in endurance events with the opportunity to raise its overall conference ceiling by adding more point-scoring range in the flat sprints, hurdles and field events.
Men's Program Pro
Fordham’s men have established themselves as one of the Atlantic 10’s most reliable distance programs, and that strength carries from cross country into the 800 meters, 1500 meters and longer track events, making endurance talent the backbone of the roster. With upcoming losses in men’s cross country distance depth, Fordham is actively reloading that group with college-ready distance recruits who can contribute early, while also continuing to add capable 400-meter runners, short sprinters and javelin prospects to protect its standing in the conference team race and keep the rest of the track squad from lagging behind the distance core.
Women's Program Pro
Fordham’s women have been more balanced than dominant, with its best conference team upside coming from building across multiple areas rather than relying on one overwhelming specialty, and the jumps group has shown useful competitive value within that mix. At the same time, upcoming departures in women’s cross country are creating a clear need for fresh distance talent, so Fordham is strengthening its pipeline in the 800 meters, 1500 meters and 3000 meters while also continuing to seek sprint contributors and selective jumpers who can raise the program’s scoring depth across the full conference championship lineup.
Current Recruiting Outlook Pro
Fordham is currently recruiting around two parallel priorities: it is restocking men’s and women’s distance depth with athletes who can help immediately in cross country and the middle-distance-to-distance track events, and it is upgrading complementary event groups that can add conference points without requiring elite national-level marks. On the men’s side that means the Rams are pushing hardest for 3000-meter/5000-meter-oriented distance recruits, 800/1500 runners, 400-meter athletes and javelin throwers, while on the women’s side Fordham is emphasizing 800/1500/3000 recruits, versatile sprinters and a smaller number of jumpers who can strengthen a roster that needs broader scoring support.
