SCOUTING REPORT
DAVIDSON COLLEGE
Last updated: July 22, 2026
Overview
Davidson is operating as a solid Atlantic 10 program with its clearest path to conference relevance coming through balanced men’s track and a women’s roster that can score in multiple areas but still needs more top-end depth. Its recruiting profile is most assertive in men’s distance, men’s sprints/hurdles, and women’s distance, while the upcoming loss of strong distance contributors on both sides makes endurance events the most immediate roster-management issue across the Wildcats’ programs.
Men's Program Pro
Davidson’s men have recently functioned as an upper-half Atlantic 10 track program, built most credibly around sprints/hurdles and a dependable distance group, while throws have also supplied useful conference points. With outgoing distance athletes carrying strong ratings, the men’s side is now reinforcing cross country and the track distance ladder from 800 meters through 5000 meters, and it is also continuing to add sprint/hurdle talent--especially 400 meters and 400-meter hurdles types--to preserve its ability to score broadly at the conference meet.
Women's Program Pro
Davidson’s women have been more middle-of-the-pack in the Atlantic 10 overall, but the program has shown enough event-specific strength in sprints/hurdles and occasional jumps scoring to remain competitive when its lineup is healthy. The most important current issue is the pending departure of several highly rated distance athletes, so Davidson is actively rebuilding women’s cross country and the track distance corps while still supplementing sprint and jump depth to keep its conference scoring base from narrowing.
Current Recruiting Outlook Pro
Davidson is currently looking for immediate-impact distance recruits on both the men’s and women’s sides, with special emphasis on athletes who can help in cross country and then score in the 800 meters, 1500 meters, 3000 meters, and 5000 meters on the track. On the men’s side, it is also pushing for strong 400/400-meter hurdles and complementary sprint recruits, while on the women’s side it is selectively adding hurdlers and vertical-jump athletes; by contrast, women’s throws and most jumps events read as lower-urgency needs.
