SCOUTING REPORT

MARIST COLLEGE
Runcruit
Last updated: July 22, 2026

Overview

Marist is operating as a solid middle-of-the-pack MAAC program with its clearest identity in distance running, where both cross country teams and the men’s track distance group regularly give it competitive conference scoring. The program is currently leaning on endurance events as its foundation while using track recruiting to raise overall depth, and its standards show a much more serious push in distance than in the power events. Across the board, Marist is looking for recruits who can help it move from respectable conference positioning into more consistent upper-half finishes, especially by reinforcing distance depth and selectively adding points in event areas that have lagged behind.

Marist’s men are strongest when the Red Foxes are scoring through cross country, the 800 meters through 5000 meters range, and complementary sprint production, with the men’s track team showing steady conference value in sprints/hurdles while distance remains the broader program backbone. The men’s cross country team has been competitive within the MAAC, and that carries over to track, where Marist is clearly pursuing a stronger middle-distance and distance roster than most of its other event groups. With an upcoming loss of multiple well-rated distance athletes, the men’s side is actively needing immediate-impact recruits in the 800 meters, 1500 meters, 3000 meters, and cross country profile, while also continuing to add sprint/hurdle depth to preserve one of its better conference scoring areas.

Marist’s women are also built most naturally around distance, with cross country and track distance producing the most dependable conference relevance even as the overall track team remains in the middle-to-lower half of the MAAC standings. The women’s sprint, hurdle, and jump standards are comparatively accessible, which signals that those groups are still being built, but the program’s clearest competitive pathway remains through distance runners who can contribute in cross country and in the 800 meters, 1500 meters, and 3000 meters. With an outgoing group of highly rated women’s distance athletes pending across cross country and track, Marist is urgently reinforcing that event family so it can maintain its current identity while also seeking developmental help in sprints/hurdles and jumps.

Marist is currently recruiting around a distance-first model on both sides, prioritizing men who can score in cross country and the 800 meters through 3000 meters and women who can stabilize the same range while supporting the women’s cross country team. On the men’s side, it is also continuing to add sprint/hurdle athletes because that group has been one of its better conference point sources, whereas on the women’s side it is casting more broadly for usable sprint, hurdle, and jump depth to lift total team scoring. Overall, Marist is looking for recruits who fit a MAAC-competitive distance profile first, then for complementary event specialists who can turn thin event groups into reliable conference contributors.
