SCOUTING REPORT

Overview

Florida Atlantic is building its women’s program around high-end speed and jump talent while using cross country and distance recruiting to raise overall team balance in the American. Its women’s track profile is much more ambitious in sprints, hurdles, and jumps than in distance, which signals a clear competitive identity, while the cross country side is still working toward stronger conference relevance through added middle-distance and 5000-meter depth.

Florida Atlantic’s women’s track and field program is centered on sprint/hurdle and jump production, and it is currently recruiting athletes who can score in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, hurdles, and horizontal jumps right away. The Owls are also adding support in the distance group, but that need is more about improving lineup depth and strengthening cross country consistency, especially with one upcoming distance departure affecting both track and cross country depth.

Florida Atlantic is currently prioritizing women who fit an impact Division I sprint/hurdle or jumps profile, with the strongest push aimed at 200 meters, 100 meters, 400 meters, 300-meter-hurdle-to-400-meter-hurdle conversions, long jump, and triple jump. It is also recruiting 800-meter and 1500-meter athletes who can help both track and cross country, while continuing to seek 5000-meter depth to lift its distance group in the American.
