SCOUTING REPORT
CLARK UNIVERSITY
Last updated: July 22, 2026
Overview
Clark is a Division III, high-academic cross country program that is building through accessible but purposeful distance recruiting, with its women’s side showing slightly stronger ambition than its men’s side. Because Clark does not sponsor track and field, its recruiting is centered entirely on cross country-compatible distance runners who can raise team depth and conference relevance over time.
Men's Program Pro
Clark’s men’s cross country program is currently emphasizing foundational roster growth more than immediate top-of-conference impact, so it is recruiting broad-based distance talent that can contribute across the 5000 meters and 1500-meter profile while helping establish stronger pack depth. The Cougars are especially looking for dependable aerobic runners who can develop quickly in a Division III environment and strengthen the program’s middle tier as it works upward within NEWMAC.
Women's Program Pro
Clark’s women’s cross country program is recruiting more assertively than the men’s side and is clearly prioritizing distance runners who can lift both the front end and overall team scoring depth. With one upcoming outgoing distance contributor to replace, Clark is actively adding women who can help in the 5000 meters and 1500-meter range right away while also reinforcing the program’s long-term depth in cross country racing.
Current Recruiting Outlook Pro
Clark is currently looking for academically strong Division III distance recruits who fit a developmental cross country model, with the clearest emphasis on women who can contribute early and men who can deepen the roster pipeline. Across both programs, it is targeting 1500/5000-oriented runners first, while also adding select longer-distance prospects who can improve training-group strength and future championship depth.
